What a perfectly beautiful day! The sun set as they read their personal vows to each other and we raced to the fields to catch the last little bit of pink and purple light before dark. This cozy, intimate wedding was such a joy to shoot! I wish you guys all the best! Thank you for letting me be a part of your day!!

I got to go meet Miss Emilia last week, and let me tell you... she is everything I dreamed she would be! It was a whirlwind couple of days, but we snuck in a few pictures of that newborn, new family of 3 glow :) Chel. You are an amazing mom. I knew you would be. Em is so incredibly lucky to have you. Just like I am! Can't wait for next time! Conrad misses his "baby". Love you Goldens! xoxo Kate Andddddddddd... is it even a successful newborn shoot if you don't capture a good ole spit up kiss reaction? Jared & Morgan, Xander, Aria, and Remi
This family was so much fun! We spent an hour at Highland Park picking flowers, exploring, and watching the kids RUN RUN RUN. Energy and love overflowing. Morgan and Jared- I am so thankful for the opportunity to document this moment in your families lives, and I hope I captured all the spunk and smirks and chubby wrist creases that are so special to you about your kids! xoxo, Kate Gabrielle.
I met Gabe so many years ago that she's basically my little sister. Needless to say, it was surreal to be photographing her senior portraits. I feel so old. She is kind and compassionate, and loves kids more than anyone I know. She loves on my son and makes him feel like the most important person in the room. She's a winner in my book. This was my first time photographing any kind of animal in my sessions, and I had so much fun! I sure hope it comes across! Happy senior year Gabs! Thank you of letting me document it! xoxo, Kate Luke and Victoria.
This day was everything I hoped for. I met this couple for the first time 2 years ago, and I loved them from the start. Genuine and caring, a breath of fresh air. The kind of friends that you don't have to see daily or even monthly to stay close. The kind of friends where morning coffee dates run so long that lunch gets added in. The kind of friends who drop everything to spend their day off bringing you food. and helping you move your home. They love so well on others, and their wedding day was no different. Love. The kind of love that makes you want to go home and hug your families a little tighter than the day before. Love that lifts your spirit, its beauty carrying tears. Giddy giggling, goosebumping, jumping up and down kind of love. Their ceremony was so emotional and God honoring. Their families praying over them, worshipping in song together, washing each others feet. Committing to serve each other. To be filled with love from above, to channel to each other. God first. Luke and Tori, thank you. Thank you for being a deep breath to my heart. Thank you for letting me come watch the whole day from the best seat in the house. Thank you for trusting me with your moments. I love you guys so much. Come stay in our guest room soon! xoxo, Kate What a sweet little shoot! We ended as the sun began to set, and I couldn't be more thrilled with that golden light! Shiloh ran and played and I had the opportunity to capture her fire during this stage. I'm pretty positive you can feel her energy in these shots . I loved seeing how relaxed and natural Mike and Lucy were with her. Capturing memories without the stress of a studio, keeping outfits clean, and stiff posing. These are the things that make my job dreamy! Thank you Brado family for letting me take these photos of your little family! It was a pleasure for sure! Thanks for stopping in! I'm thankful you did!
xoxo, Kate Elsie Nadine Cowey. I had the privilege to go visit her when she was just 24 hours old. The privilege to document those early cries, and yawns and glances. This never gets old. A week later I dropped in and snagged a few images of her and her mommy before she grows and changes any more. All you parents out there know first hand, they never look the same when they wake up in a new day. Time is a meanie. Elsie, I'm so happy for you. Happy that you were gifted such a loving, doting mom. Ecstatic that you were gifted such a gentle and patient dad. Grateful that God gifted you to our family. We can't wait to watch you grow! I can't wait to see who you become! I love you Coweys. #onceaTumiaalwaysaTumia one week later...Send some love to the little family!
xoxo, Kate What a Valentines Day weekend! Dave and Stephanie met at college in Pensacola Florida. They became good friends, until one day Dave invited Stephanie golfing, and everything changed. There on the 4th green, while teaching her how to play her first game of "real" golf, Dave realized that Stephanie was the one. He knew this was the girl he would spend his life with. Fast forward years of long distance dating, and love growing and life, and we arrived at last weekend. Dave sent Stephanie on a girls day full of surprises and pampering. He even made sure to have her best friend fly in for the weekend! (He's a winner right?!) At the end of the day he was waiting for her on the bridge in the backyard of her home. The bridge that leads to the gold course behind her house. The bridge that leads to the 4th hole of the golf course directly behind her house. {I KNOW RIGHT?!} You can't make this stuff up! Nicholas Sparks has nothing on God written love stories! They walked together, laughing and chatting, up to the green. He knelt down, pulled the ring box he built himself, out of the 4th hole and opened the lid. The lid that he had carved her new initials on. If you know Stephanie, her reaction wouldn't be a surprise to you. If you know Stephanie I'm sure you can hear her reaction just by looking at the images. The most joyous giggles, and "ARE YOU SERIOUS!?"'s that have ever been uttered. He slipped the ring on her finger and walked her over to the bridge they had just crossed together, and showed her that very special question spelled out in tulips. One by one her family and friends came out from where they were hiding to congratulate them, and I don't think there was a happier place on the planet in that moment. I couldn't have chosen a better way to spend my Valentines Day weekend. Hiding from my front row seat in the pricker bushes watching God's love poured out. Best seat in the house. Dave and Stephanie, thank you for being a reminder of extravagant love. For waiting on God's timing and being proof of His incredible goodness. I truly believe our Father loves to give us good gifts. I know He gave you each other. xoxo, Kate Thank you for stopping in!
Feel free to give the happy couple some love in the comment section! Conrad's nursery. I really never had a vision for this little nook, it just slowly took shape. When we found out we were pregnant, I started 2 piles with random decor we already had. One pile was full of pinks, florals and antiques, the other full of wooden animals from our travels, and bright primary colors. We didn't really buy much for the nursery, I used mostly things we already had around the house! Quilts passed down from grandparents, antiques I had salvaged, prints I created myself, furniture from our childhood. Staying away from a specific theme helped save a ton of money, and left room to create a really fun space with little work! If your brain can handle the eclectic look that is :) Piece by piece this little room became whole, and will always be special to me. Now that we've moved out it seems silly that I'm just now posting the tour, but here it is! The room that is no more. Thankful to have pictures to remember this phase. Conrad's first bedroom! I can't wait to get my hands on his next room! Ethan's childhood rocking chair from his grandparents :) This is the top piece of the ironing board I salvaged from an estate sale for a couple of bucks! Remember that DIY project? HERE ---->diy-blanket-ladder.html Crib sheet from our favorites over at Little and Luxe! All my guests at my baby shower brought their favorite books for Conrad. It was such a great gift idea, and Conrad is WELLLLLLL stocked with great reading material! Above: Painting by Conrad's Great Grandma Hawkins of Ethan riding his horse, string art of Zambia gifted from a friend, 2 paintings I bought on a beach in the Dominican. Filling the walls with sentimental things makes everything feel homier. My favorite! A stuffed animal mobile straight from our good friends The Jalowiecs in Zambia! It was little, but this room was a special one.
xoxo, Kate Erik + Jess
They don't quite agree on the exact details of the first time they met, but all that matters is that they are together now. And its forever. These lovebirds braved the cold with me like champs. Erik carried Jess over the deep snow banks, made her giggle like a little girl, a couldn't stop pulling her in for long, neck breaking squeezes. I never get sick of seeing best friends in love. Best friends who can't stop holding hands, bicker over matching outifts, and keep each other warm in the icy weather. I hope you can see the sparks through your screen. I hope you can hear the true deep heart pounding laughter. These two are the bees knees, and I can't wait to see what's ahead for them! Jess, I love you and am so beyond thrilled that you found your "happily ever after"! Erik, Welcome to the family, and don't ever forget. We have A LOT of BIG STRONG uncles. Treat her like a princess. xoxo, Kate |
